Remedy
Cuts, scrapes, cracked hands
Wash first. Then plantain, yarrow, or calendula. Herbs do not replace irrigation.
Pumping blood, red streaks, fever around a wound: first aid and the med chest, not salve.
Do this
- 1.Clean water, a lot of it. Soap around, not packed in a hole. See Wounds.
- 2.Plantain or yarrow poultice on a shallow clean cut. Yarrow if it still oozes.
- 3.Calendula salve once it is clean and closing, or on winter-cracked hands.
- 4.Leave bites and punctures open.
Recipes
Plantain (or self-heal) poultice
Chew or mash a clean leaf. Tape it on. The oldest first-aid in the yard.
Yarrow tincture
Fever sweat on the inside, wound wash on the outside.
Calendula (or plantain) salve
The cracked-hand, shallow-burn, scraped-knuckle tin. Make it in September.
